Wranglers end road trip with split over Lone Star

Amarillo, Tx– The Wranglers ended their three-week-long stretch of road games with a split over the Lone Star Brahmas.

Amarillo went into North Richland Hills with three wins in the first five road games, including a sweep of the El Paso Rhinos. The Wranglers took on Lone Star in the middle of four straight losses.

The hometown Brahmas opened the scoring Friday night just 4:07 into the first period. Amarillo was able to kill off four-straight penalties to grab momentum into the second period.

Amarillo tied the game on the power play when Chase Davis found the back of the net at 6:24 of the second period. The Wranglers’ defense would stifle the Brahmas and eventually lead to the go-ahead goal at 16:47 when Zach Kent scored off an assist from Jack McDonald. Two minutes later, McDonald would redirect a point shot for another Wranglers’ goal on the power play.

The Wranglers would get an empty-net goal from Ronan Walsh late in the third. Luca Ganz made 17 saves in the 4-to-1 win Friday night. Amarillo would fall short Saturday night but secured 8 out of- 14 possible points on the road.

Amarillo returns to the Budweiser Bullpen for six straight games at home, starting with two more games against Lone Star. The Wranglers will also host the New Mexico Ice Wolves and Corpus Christi Ice Rays during the homestand.
