Wranglers split weekend with Odessa following 5-to-1 loss

Amarillo, Tx– The Wranglers dropped the weekend series finale against Odessa with a 5-to-1 loss Saturday night.

A crowd of over 2,000 filed into the Budweiser Bullpen for First Responders Night and a chance to see the Wranglers go for the weekend sweep.

Odessa would open the scoring when John Wojciechowski beat Carter Clafton at the 6:23 mark of the first period. Moments later, Trevor Mitchell would find the back of the net to chase Carter Clafton and give Odessa an early 2-to-0 lead.

The scoring halted until nine minutes into the second period when Ryan Mansfield beat Luca Ganz to open up a three-goal advantage for Odessa. Seconds later, Emerson Goode would join the score sheet to put Odessa up 4-to-0. Amarillo responded with Connor McNaughton scoring his first NAHL goal at 10:50 of the period.

Odessa would add another goal late in the third period when Mansfield tallied his second of the tilt. The Wranglers would not be able to solve Gergely Orosz after putting up 40 shots on the Odessa goalie.

Next weekend, the Wranglers will hit the road to take on the defending South division champion New Mexico Ice Wolves. Both games will start at 7:30 central time.
