Wranglers stumble, tally first loss of season

Blaine, Mn– The Wranglers suffer their first loss of the 2021-22 season following a 4-to-1 performance against the North Iowa Bulls.

The penalty bug bit the Wranglers early in the game resulting in a 5-on-3 powerplay for the Bulls who would quickly capitalize when Sean Vlasich beat Max Gutjahr to open the scoring at the 11:31 mark of the first period. Just two minutes later Logan Dombrosky would score a power-play goal to give North Iowa a two-goal advantage.

The Wranglers would struggle to produce scoring chances throughout the second period and goalie Max Gutjahr would be called to make large saves to keep the deficit at two. Later in the period, the Bulls would take advantage of a late Wranglers change and Logan Dombrowsky would score his second goal of the night on a breakaway to make it a 3-to-0 Bulls lead going into the third period.

Amarillo would finally get on the board halfway through the third period at the end of a powerplay chance when Logan Cleary beat Cullen De Young for his first goal of the season and make it a 3-to-1 game. The Bulls would score in the final minute of the game to make it a 4-to-1 final and hand the Wranglers their first loss of the season.

Amarillo will finish the showcase with a matchup against the Northeast Generals Saturday morning.
