Austin Sutter serves as owner, president and head coach of the Amarillo Wranglers, bringing a player-first approach to developing athletes and growing hockey in the Texas Panhandle.
Originally from Red Deer, Alberta, Sutter played in the BCHL and NCAA Division I hockey at Minnesota State University before playing professionally with Amarillo Gorillas. During his time in Amarillo, he earned the Central Hockey League’s 2008–09 Man of the Year award, recognizing his leadership on and off the ice.
Through his work with the Wranglers, West Texas Wranglers and Amarillo Ice Ranch, Sutter has helped create opportunities for local players to learn, compete and advance. His coaching philosophy centers on three qualities: Humble, Hungry and Smart. He is committed to helping players reach college hockey while building the accountability, character and habits that will serve them beyond the game.
