Farmington Hills, MI – The Amarillo Wranglers began their main camp on Friday ahead of the 2023-24 NAHL season. The camp will last four days running from August 4th to 7th.

Main camp is an event that allows the Wranglers to evaluate invited players competing for a spot on the roster to be selected to go to Amarillo for training camp later this month. It’s a competitive process that will see around 36 to 38 players selected to make it to training camp as the Wranglers begin the process of putting together the roster for the season.

The Wranglers made a few staff changes earlier in the offseason, promoting former Head Coach and GM Harry Mahood to President of Hockey Operations and GM, as well as naming Ryan Anderson as Head Coach and Conor Yawney as Assistant Coach. For Anderson and Yawney, this will be the first time they’ll get to meet their players face-to-face and get to know them. “It’s going to be great to finally meet all the players face-to-face and shake their hands,” said Anderson. “I’m really excited to get with the entire staff, players, returners, tenders, draft picks, and start things off on the right foot.”

The Wranglers are coming off of an impressive 2022-23 campaign that saw the team notch a 9-game winning streak to make the postseason and are looking to build upon their prior success in the upcoming season. “As an organization, we’re excited to start the 23-24 NAHL season and the first step is main camp,” said Anderson. “We’ve still got a few steps to go before we hit the ice in Blaine, but we’re really excited to build upon the momentum of last season. We have a great returning group of players and we’re really excited about our tenders and draft picks and seeing the guys at camp this week competing and battling it out for a right to come to Amarillo for training camp.”

The Wranglers season will begin in Blaine, MN when they take on the Janesville Jets to kick off the NAHL Showcase on September 13th. Amarillo’s home opener is on September 29th vs. the Corpus Christi IceRays.
