Wranglers fall to Brahmas 4-1

North Richland Hills, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas defeated the Amarillo Wranglers by the score of 4-1 on Saturday night at NYTEX Sports Centre. 

The Wranglers entered the contest with a record of 4-3, while Lone Star carried a record of 6-4-0-1. Both goaltenders that played last night got the start in net once again, with Connor McDonough starting for the Wranglers and Dievs Rolovs starting for the Brahmas. 

Lone Star opened the scoring 5:13 into the first when Justin Kerr fed a pass from below the goal line to Owen Kerr between the circles, and Owen put the puck in the back of the net. Anthony Cappello got the secondary assist. 9:18 into the period, the Wranglers’ Jacob Miller fought the Brahmas’ Bryce Ingles. The Brahmas added to their lead with a goal from Saxton Tess 10:18 into the first frame. Skuhrovec and James were credited with the assists on the goal that gave the Brahmas a 2-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, the Brahmas scored again 4:28 into the third period with a goal from Anthony Cappello to make it 3-0, with assists coming from Justin Kerr and Owen Kerr. With 13:08 to go in regulation, Lucas Jeffreys fired a shot from the blue line that beat Rolovs to make it 3-1. The goal was Jeffreys’ first NAHL goal, with assists coming from Connor McNaughton and Luke Morris. However, the Brahmas came storming back and responded with a goal from Justin Kerr just 17 seconds later to give the Brahmas a 4-1 lead. Owen Kerr and Anthony Cappello picked up the assists on the goal. 

With the loss, the Wranglers fell to 4-4 on the season. They’ll look to get back in the win column when they take on the Odessa Jackalopes at home on October 13th and 14th. Friday is Pink in the Rink Night, and Saturday is Barbie Night. You can get your tickets at www.panhandletickets.com.
