Wranglers outlast Mudbugs in 5-to-4 final Saturday night

Amarillo, Tx– The Wranglers end the weekend with a thrilling 5-to-4 victory over Shreveport Saturday night.

The night started in favor of Shreveport, who tallied two goals in the first three minutes of the game with goals from Eric Vitale and Nick Marino. The slow start would have the Wranglers pull starting goalie Carter Clafton for Luca Ganz. Amarillo would get on the board later when Kyle Demarco scored from the blue line to make it 2-to-1.

Amarillo would claim the lead when Jack McDonald found the back of the net at 4:44 of the second period. The Wranglers build the lead with a Ryan Gingher goal halfway through the second. The hometown Wranglers would get their fourth unanswered goal, with Jack Ivey scoring his sixth of the year. Amarillo would have a 4-to-3 lead at the end of the second after Drake Morse got the Mudbugs back on the board.

Shreveport would tie the game early in the third with a Ryan Burke goal at 3:49 of the period. Both goalies would exchange show-stopping goals in the third period before the Wranglers could finally reclaim their lead. Chase Davis would find the back of the net on the power play with only three minutes left, and Ganz would hang on to secure the 5-to-4 win.

With the victory, Amarillo picked up three out of four points against a Mudbugs team that had won five games in a row. Chase Davis had a four-point night with one goal and three assists. Luca Ganz made 17 saves on 19 shots.

The Wranglers will take on the El Paso Rhinos Saturday and Sunday at the Budweiser Bullpen. Saturday night will be the annual Teddy Bear Toss game, and Sunday will be Undie Sunday, where fans are encouraged to bring underwear and sock donations.
